JUNKO

JUNKO

JUNKO

JUNKO

JUNKO

JUNKO

  • SAYUMI

JUNKO was affectionately known as Orihime by her fellow runners. She passed away in a traffic accident on August 4, 2000 at 7:45 pm during the Trans Ezo marathon race held in Hokkaido. This race takes one week to run 555 km from Cape Erimo to Cape Soya. The tournament was canceled due to the accident, but Junko's fellow volunteers found Junko's shoes at the accident site and ran to Cape Soya carrying the shoes to pray for her soul. Her next scheduled race is the Oku Musashi Ultra Marathon. A letter written by JUNKO at the race remains. " Oku Musashi is happy to be reunited with a nostalgic friend. I like the area around Karibazaka Pass the best. cool green shaded tunnel When I look up, the blue sky is near I am grateful for the happiness of being able to run."
