Sukura in the Wind

Set in the izakayas and snack bars of the neon-lit Sakurazaka district at night, the song depicts a lonely protagonist who drowns his past regrets and setbacks in alcohol. In his desolate heart, where he stubbornly insists he doesn't care about others, the only thing he finds solace in is "you" (a single flower blooming at the bottom of his heart). The song expresses the unwavering and poignant resolve of pure love, a secret held within the man's downtrodden life: "Because people are destined to wither away like cherry blossoms, I will love only you as long as I live."

The lyrics, "biting my navel" and "losing my way of life," convey not just simple heartbreak, but a sense of failure in his life itself and regret for a past he can't change, all dissolving into the liquor in his glass (teardrops).

"Neon lights, like fireflies," expresses the coldness and loneliness of the city night through the artificial light of neon signs. The description evokes the image of the protagonist being drawn into the bar and becoming drunk, his dejected back almost visible.
The contrast between "destined to scatter" and "to love to the end" is a beautiful, yet destructive aesthetic often used in enka songs: "If life is destined to scatter anyway, then at least live for love." The refrain "Only you" conveys the heightened emotions of desperation.
