Your TV’s playing some bad reality programme
Neither of us watching anyway
Time disappears when you’re being sarcastic
And I keep finding reasons to stay
Now we’re sharing chips outside your flat
While your phone keeps dying in your hand
You say “I’m bad at this relationship stuff”
Like I wasn’t already terrified
And it’s dumb
How I’m already thinking two weeks ahead
Like “would your mum like me?”
God, I’m in deep
Stay asleep with me
Just a little longer
Stay asleep with me
Pull my t-shirt over your shoulders
Kissing with half-shut eyes
Talking in sleep-drunk lines
Stay asleep with me
(With me, with me...)
You laugh with your whole body two drinks in
Like you physically can’t act cool
And I pretend I’ve done this all before
While rehearsing sentences to you
Half an hour late, still out of breath
Apologising like somebody left
I said “relax, it’s not a murder scene”
You laughed and suddenly I couldn’t think
And it’s dumb
How I've tried on half my wardrobe twice
Like "does this even fit me?"
God, I’m so in deep
Stay asleep with me
Just a little longer
Stay asleep with me
Pull my t-shirt over your shoulders
Kissing with half-shut eyes
Talking in sleep-drunk lines
Stay asleep with me
(With me, with me...)
Stay asleep with me
Hold me while it's turning
Stay asleep with me
Love me while it's hurting
Stay asleep with me
Like neither of us planned this
Stay asleep with me
Like you forgot to leave
(With me, with me...)

Asleep With Me
GIRLFRIENDZ
Formed in Tokyo in December 2025, indie synth-pop band GIRLFRIENDZ will release their fifth single, "Asleep With Me," on July 24, 2026.
The track showcases the signature style of Spanish producer and songwriter Miguel, also known for his work as a video game composer, delivering shimmering synth-pop at its finest.
Drawing inspiration from CHVRCHES, Let's Eat Grandma, Lyncs, and "I Really Want to Stay at Your House" by Rosa Walton & Hallie Coggins from the Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack, "Asleep With Me" blends modern indie synth-pop with sparkling vintage-inspired synthesizers and warm electronic textures. The song also marks the debut of guitarist Raphael Carpenter, whose spacious, atmospheric guitar work adds a new dimension to the band's sound. Echoing the bittersweet yet uplifting spirit of The Cranberries' "Dreams," the track pairs a soaring, emotionally charged melody with the delicate whisper vocals of Mayu "Angel" Baby, leaving listeners with the lingering feeling of waking from a beautiful dream.
Lyrically, "Asleep With Me" captures the moment when a new relationship slowly begins to feel like home. A bad reality TV show playing in the background, sharing a bag of chips outside an apartment, a phone running out of battery, sleepy conversations, and kisses exchanged with half-closed eyes all paint a portrait of quiet intimacy. Beneath these everyday moments lies the small but overwhelming anxiety of falling in love before you're ready to admit it.
Rather than telling a dramatic love story, the song celebrates the beauty of ordinary nights spent with someone special and the quiet happiness that exists just before falling asleep. Like a scene from an indie film, "Asleep With Me" highlights GIRLFRIENDZ's delicate songwriting and their nostalgic yet contemporary approach to synth-pop, turning the simplest moments into something unforgettable.
Artist Profile
GIRLFRIENDZ
GIRLFRIENDZ is a Tokyo-based indie pop band formed in December 2025. The project began when Miguel De Diego Blanco, known for his work on Metal Gear Solid V - The Phantom Pain, a Spain-born game sound creator. With Miguel's background in game sound design, the music moves fluidly between indie textures and mainstream, anthemic pop. Their songs unfold like short films, carrying a strong sense of narrative and atmosphere. While rooted in a genuine love for what has traditionally been considered cool, GIRLFRIENDZ refuses to settle there - placing a full stop on the familiar and transforming it into new vibes. In January 2026, less than a month after forming, GIRLFRIENDZ released their debut single, Tonight, followed by D.M.I.S in February and D.M.I.S. (Not So Serious Remix) by Eiji Harrison in March. Since then, they've continued releasing music every month. With their distinctive blend of DIY spirit, pop accessibility, and cinematic sensibility, GIRLFRIENDZ are quickly emerging as one of the most exciting new bands to watch.
