MAKOTO

Late Edo period. Mibu, Kyoto.

They had no prestigious family names.
Some were not even born into the samurai class.
Yet they took up their swords and chose their own path.

"Makoto" is inspired by the Shinsengumi and built around one idea:

A samurai is not something you are born as.
It is something you become through the way you live.

On their pale blue haori, they carried a single character:

- Makoto -Sincerity.

Farmer-born, country-bred-it did not matter.
Neither bloodline nor status could define who they were.

Do not run.
Do not bend.
Walk the path you chose for yourself.

Even when called the "Wolves of Mibu,"
they kept walking through the night streets of Kyoto with nothing but their own conviction on their backs.

Blending shamisen and traditional Japanese textures with swinging Detroit Trap and a powerful female vocal, "Makoto" portrays the Shinsengumi as rough, stylish, rebellious outsiders determined to become samurai through their actions.

A samurai is not born.
A samurai is made by the way they live.
