1st Album "NO MORE NUKES USE HEMP"
The first album by dUb MaFfia, and the record that established the foundation for everything the band would go on to create.
Built around the energy and spontaneity of live performance, the album brings together deep, immersive bass, beautiful melodica melodies, drifting effects and sharp social messages.
Across eleven tracks, dUb MaFfia moves freely from accessible and melodic dub to unpredictable psychedelic improvisation, creating a sound that could only have come from this band.
The album took nearly three years to complete. At one point it was close to being finished, but the members' uncompromising approach led them to hold back its release and continue working until they were fully satisfied with the result.
Throughout the record, images of forests, water, wind, earth and the universe coexist with themes rooted in the society and history of the time: the nuclear disaster, black rain, lost homelands and a distant gaze toward Africa.
The journey begins with the band's signature "Theme of dUb MaFfia", moves through the floating atmosphere of "Feel", the swaying 6/8 rhythm of "Black Waltz", and the heavy memories carried by "Black Rain", before arriving at "Fukushima Mon Amour", where sorrow for Fukushima is expressed through a beautiful and deeply emotional melody.
Instrumental pieces, vocal tracks, jazz, roots reggae and psychedelic rock flow into one another, allowing the album to unfold like one continuous journey.
At the heart of the record is the phrase:
NO MORE NUKES USE HEMP
It expresses opposition to nuclear power and a desire to live in greater harmony with nature.
But this is not an album built only around a slogan.
Anger, sorrow, prayer, hope and the simple joy of dancing all exist together within its deep bass frequencies.
This was dUb MaFfia's first statement.
dUb MaFfia Formed in 2007, dUb MaFfia originally performed under the name ZION DUB. Driven by the idea of creating a form of dub that had never been heard before, the band blends dub with reggae, dance music, improvisation, and a wide range of other influences. Heavy, rolling basslines, floating melodica, deep echoes, and live dub mixing come together to create a different sonic landscape at every performance. Through low-end pressure, space, and improvisation, dUb MaFfia continues to develop its own "NEW DUB STYLE," taking listeners on a deep and ever-changing musical journey.
