Keitaro Takanami - 40th Anniversary Memorial Single
Since debuting with Pizzicato Five in 1985, Keitaro Takanami has walked a uniquely diverse musical path-as a solo artist, producer, and member of various units. He has produced numerous artists including Kyoko Koizumi, Monsieur Kamayatsu, Tama, and Clementine. After overcoming acute myeloid leukemia in 2010, he returned to the music scene with renewed energy. Following projects such as playtime rock and Wink Music Service, he now marks his 40th anniversary in 2025 with a new work that reflects the easygoing spirit of a wandering traveler.
"Drifting Clouds Rag" paints a lighthearted admiration for the stranger and the foreign land, set to ragtime rhythms and country-tinged guitar.
"Blue Moon Lullaby" is a solitary song - revisiting one's past while swaying on a night train.
Together, these two songs form a milestone release that embodies Takanami's current state: a musician who has reached a place where one can "find joy in solitude" after four decades of music.
Born in Nagasaki City, K-taro Takanami began his career in 1985 as a member of Pizzicato Five. After making his solo debut in 1993, he has worked extensively as a songwriter, arranger, and music producer. His credits include projects for artists such as Kyoko Koizumi, Masahiro Motoki, and Ryoko Hirosue, as well as music for animation and commercials. In 2009, he relocated his base of activities to Nagasaki, where he formed new projects including K-taro Takanami & Nangasaki Five and playtime rock, releasing CDs and performing live. Since 2023, he has also been active as a member of Wink Music Service, produced by Sally Kubota. In 2025, he appeared as a guest performer at live shows by former Pizzicato Five members Yasuharu Konishi and Maki Nomiya, and released a special single commemorating his 40th anniversary. Beyond music and film, Takanami is deeply knowledgeable about the history of Nagasaki, and he continues to share his expertise through lectures and writing.
