Kōya Ogata announces the release of his new song "Otomichi".

This time, it was created for a new series of videos by shoemaker/artist Noriyuki Misawa.
The video is composed of five drone ambient compositions that add color and breadth to Misawa's work, which expresses music with "shoes".

The video was shot in Onomichi, Hiroshima Prefecture.
It is said that in the past, no buildings other than shrines and temples were allowed to be built on the mountainside of Onomichi.
One of the special exceptions to this rule was the building called "Izumo Yashiki," which is shown in this video.
It is said to have been used by officials of the Matsue Clan in Izumo Province as a filling station for trading cotton, salt, and silver.

The Izumo Yashiki was built in the Edo period.
In 2013, the architect Masao Nakamura, who is known as a leading researcher of sukiya architecture, revitalized the Izumo Yashiki, which was built in the Edo period (1603-1868), into the current rental facility.

This is a space where shoes are placed in such an elegant building.
He pursued the idea of blending music into the space, and as a result, he achieved the sound he was looking for by applying "reverse playback," which turns back the time axis.

I wanted to create a sound that harmonized with the shoe works and the dignified space.
I would like you to listen to the sound that harmonizes with the shoe works and the dignified space while thinking about the interaction of people long ago.

.About the Shoe Works
The "Music" Series is Tokyo-based shoemaker/artist, Noriyuki Misawa's set of artistic shoe creations expressing the concept that shoes can produce music, triggered since he made shoes for a tap dancer in 2018. Since then Misawa has focused on incorporating parts of varied instruments and their sounds - violin, piano, clarinet,... - into shoe design. The pandemic became a big obstacle to travel abroad and this situation made Misawa focus back to where he lives, Japan. He was looking for a perfect place to present the "MUSIC" Series and the place he finally selected was Onomichi in Hiroshima; the city fascinated many film directors such as Yasujiro Ozu, and Nobuhiko Obayashi and became a stage for their masterpieces. The venue he discovered was a so-called "Izumo-Yashiki" (its current name is "Setouchi Minatono Yado,") the traditional Japanese style old house that was a witness of Onomichi's history. A presentation of western shoes in a Japanese style house, this endeavor is the "Onomichi Project." The displayed pieces sometimes look like the room's decoration dedicated to guests and sometimes recalling shadows of writers and artists who used to stay there. Time and music are invisible and have disappeared. However, those afterglows would remain there. Exhibiting the "MUSIC" Series at the Japanese House - Misawa's attempt invites viewers to an intriguing experience.
