Spring 2025, at Kyoto octave.
ANJI and RITTO met for the first time and naturally resonated with each other during a session. Carrying that lingering feeling, and guided by Mister from the Shiga-based reggae sound system ROAD CREATION, this work came to life.
By layering the voice of Okinawan rapper RITTO onto ANJIs track [A Walk on a Rainy Day,] another perspective gently illuminates the quiet moments of everyday life. Spoken word, rap, and sound intersect, unfolding softly into a spacious and immersive piece.
Sound direction by COMPUMA.
Mixed and mastered by hacchi.
Artwork by Giant-X.
We invite you to spend a moment wrapped in its warmth and gentle words and sounds.
Born in 2012 and based in Shiga, Japan, ANJI is a blind beatmaker and beat poetry artist. From an early age, ANJI became familiar with synthesizers, drum machines, and DTM, beginning to compose music as if playing with sound. Creating genre-defying productions and providing music for various projects, ANJI live performances layer spoken word over effect-driven beats, expressing landscapes and emotions through sound and language. While expanding activities as a beatmaker through music and BGM contributions to TV dramas and corporate commercials, ANJI has also appeared as an actor in video works. ANJI has performed at festivals and events across Japan, including as the opening act for COMPUMA one-man live show, as well as at Hashinoshita Bon Odori 2025 and Sumida Street Jazz Festival 2025. ANJI is also scheduled to appear at Hibiya Music Festival 2026 in May. A 7-inch EP record produced by COMPUMA and M.C.BOO, with mixing and mastering by hacchi, has also been released. The sounds born from daily life spent alongside people, the city, and nature by the shores of Lake Biwa form the creative source of ANJI.
