Return to Health (B-Sides)

Back Tired

Look at me, I'm still alive, I'm still moving

Got a hernia in my neck, and my right ear

Sudden deafness hit me, can't even mix the sound right

But compared to what you're going through?

Man, my pain is nothing at all

Let me tell you what I learned

I'm mixing these tracks where my right ear is fading away

Fighting the pain in my neck through the dark of the day

But I look at you, fighting just to take a single breath

Facing the sickness, staring at the shadow of death

My struggles are small, yeah, I got no right to complain

When I look at the mountain of your hidden pain

I realized so late, health is the greatest wealth we hold

Something you can't buy back with a mountain of gold

Drinking too much, eating too much, pushing way past the line

Thinking I was strong, wasting all of my time

Now the body is broken, and the regrets start to grow

It's a lesson I learned way too late down the road

Mental sickness or physical pain, it’s all so damn hard to bear

But from this quiet room, I’m sending a prayer into the air

I just pray that you live a healthy and beautiful life

That you find your peace, far away from the strife

Even if it's too late for me to fix what I broke

I want you to survive through the fire and smoke

Take care of your heart, take care of your frame

I'm singing this song, calling out your name

Young days are gone, can't turn back the hands of the clock

Living with the damage, taking every single shock

But I'm still standing, still moving, still making this beat

With one good ear, I'm still fighting out in the street

So if you're on a hospital bed, or locked in your mind

Just know there’s a comrade won't leave you behind

Yeah, it's painful, it's suffocating, it's a heavy load

We're still walking down this bumpy road

Listen to your body, protect the spark in your chest

Before the dark night takes away all of your rest

I was too late to notice... but you still got time

Listen to me... stay healthy... stay alive

I just pray that you live a healthy and beautiful life

That you find your peace, far away from the strife

Even if it's too late for me to fix what I broke

I want you to survive through the fire and smoke

Take care of your heart, take care of your frame

I'm singing this song, calling out your name

I'm still moving. I'm still alive

So I'm gonna keep making music, with whatever I got left

I truly hope you find your happiness and stay healthy

Thank you for listening, my friend

Peace
