A collection of self-covers by composer Yoshiaki Sato as a performer.
Accordionist Yoshiaki Sato is a musician who, while focusing on jazz, easily overcomes the barriers between genres. In recent years, he has been increasingly involved in classical and contemporary music, and this fourth solo album, his first in six years, is a departure from his previous three albums, in which he approaches his own compositions in a wide range of styles, including contemporary, classical, and folk music, as a performer, based on his track record as a composer.
This collection explores the further possibilities of the accordion in both solo and ensemble forms, including two commissioned pieces, the theme song for a YouTube program, and instrumental etudes.
Self-taught accordion player Yoshiaki Sato began learning the instrument whilst a student at Kunitachi Collegeof Music. After graduating he continued his studies at C.I.M.Ecole de Jazz in France with Daniel Mille. Yoshiaki, who has set himself apart from the existing image of accordion with his distinctive sound is very much involved in live concerts, recordings, artist support, as well as drama music. Quite active in many genres, his activities do not limit himself to performing in Japan but abroad.
