This is "Hanako of the Toilet," the debut song of twin idol group Melone.
The duo consists of 13-year-olds Nao and Mao. The thoughts behind this debut song are as follows:
Not all yokai become yokai because they want to. There is a reason, and a sad story behind how they became yokai. Melone's thoughts on social issues such as school bullying and suicide are expressed in their own way, and this song was written with the hope of bringing awareness to everyone at school through a heartbreaking message conveyed through yokai.
They are twin sisters, currently 13 years old. They choreograph and write their own lyrics, and aim to be active globally. We would like to introduce their latest release, "Hanako of the Toilet." Hanako is a famous yokai (spirit monster) in Japan. She was bullied, hid herself in the toilet, and died, becoming a yokai. She now hides in school toilets, and will suddenly appear to startle people. Not all Japanese monsters want to become monsters. There is a reason for their existence, and a sad story behind how they became monsters. Melone has her own thoughts on social issues such as bullying and school absenteeism, and this song was written with the hope of bringing awareness to everyone at school through its heartbreaking message conveyed through Hanako's sad feelings and regrets.
