KAGOMÉ

"Kagome" is also the title of the traditional Japanese lullaby. I remember my mum singing it to me in my childhood days. By "Kagome", we mean "a girl in a cage", and is about a young spiritual tramp who is deviating from her path because of her skin-deep beauty. We all know that sometimes boys at certain age speak to pretty girls only to become sexually intimate. The girl may counter their vulgar motives by taking advantage of them to satisfy her need for validation. But she wonders. Just who in the world would want to respect her, without her ephemeral shell? Would she, herself? She wishes her secret crush to be the One who does so, but she is too afraid to take a leap to know whether or not he is one of the sexual predators, and also if she can be brave enough to know the truth. Listen to the spurious queen bee, praying to the dark void of despair lit only by a very faint glimmer of hope.
