The 1st album of PIROKALPIN, a rock band based in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo. As you can imagine from its artwork, you can listen to pop tunes with mysterious sensation. It is addictive to their unique dramaness as if inviting us from the reality to outer space. Interpretation of indie-like free sound is attractive. - (CD journal database)
(Biography)
PIROKALPIN is a Japanese rock band that is based in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo.
Dreamy and fantastic worlds are envisioned by her transparent voice that shines like an innocent boy and a unique band sound inspired by UK rock. The nostalgic melody and the lyrics between reality and fantasy written by Chieko Matsuki (Vo, Gt.) with her unique sense of words are very simple, but they have the strength and beauty of the Japanese language...
In July 2009, Their two debut singles, "Human Evolution Theory"(exclusive for Tower Records) and "Kyoto"(exclusive for HMV), were released simultaneously. It was very unique and unusual that two separate singles were released simultaneously for two rival companies.
All singles that have been released so far are SOLD OUT, and their three albums ("Lightning(2009)", "Phenomenon of phantom and fantasy(2010)", "Orphan of the universe(2011) ") are still long sellers.
In May 2012, major 1st album "Mirage(2012)" was released from Universal Music. "Peach giraffe" recorded in "Maboroshi anthology(2012)" released in the same year was a heavy rotation at numerous FM stations in Japan.
And in April 2013, major 1st single "Rockstar and Magical Lamp(2013)" and 1st full album "The Oasis of Sun and Moon(2013)" were released. "Exuviae of Time" recorded in this album has become the thematic song of the movie "Detective Detention". At the end of 2013, they appeared in COUNTDOWN JAPAN 13/14, which is one of the biggest rock festivals in Japan.
Here is a fantastic guitar rock drawn with their unique view of the world. The listener would be captivated by their universal melody, fantastic sound and words like beautiful crystals.
* The origin of the name is "Pilocarpine" which is a remedy for glaucoma. Because it is a powerful medicine to be used as a remedy for glaucoma, it means "to recover the sight that has disappeared" and "meaning that drugs are also poisonous depending on usage".
