これまでGeckoとしてエレクトロニカ・ニューエイジ・バンド作品をリリースしてきた佐藤航が、ピアニストとしてリリースする、初の本名名義でのピアノソロ作品。Eric SatieやLudovico Eunandiに見られるミニマルで印象的な旋律、Nils FrahmやGoldmundを思わせる哀愁ただようアップライトピアノの音色。決して実験的でアブストラクトな作品ではなく、暗く悲しげだが耳に残る美しい旋律で溢れかえる「真夜中の孤独」を表現した作品だ。Wataru Satoは今年yuki murata(Anoice,films,etc.)との2台ピアノ形式での活動も開始し、ピアニスト・作曲家としての活動の幅を広げている。またErased Tapes等からリリースしているピアニストLubomyr Melnykに師事し、その独特な奏法を吸収し自身の作品に取り入れ始めている。
マスタリングはKASHIWA Daisuke氏。

  • Wataru Sato

    Wataru Sato/Gecko is a pianist born and living in Kanagawa,Japan. Under the name of Gecko, he has been creating various of works based on electronica and modern-classic music since 2010. Under the name of Wataru Sato,his real name,he shows the unique piano-solo performance influenced by minimal and modern-classic,and his melody is fluent and melancholic, He has been released several albums with piano solos,trio format or quintet formats etc. He is also a leader and pianist of Gecko&Tokage Parade, Japanese fusion and modern jazz band. Currently they belong to the Japanese jazz label Playwright and keep performing at several famous venues(Cotton Club,Motion Blue yokohama etc.) and on domestic and overseas jazz festivals. He has been studying and improving his piano under the minimal pianist Lubomyr Melnyk(Erased Tapes).
