Crossing the bounds of nationality, race, and language, the "UNI-Q Co-write Project" has gained significant attention for its experimental and grand theme of "exploring new musical chemical reactions" through collaborative works involving skillful topliners, trackmakers, and other creators. Known as UNI-Qreatives or simply UNI-Q, this project has become a focal point for talented and unique creators and singers declaring their participation. It's become a topic of conversation as a project that demonstrates to listeners worldwide that Japan houses talents on par with the global stage.
For the fourth installment of the project, the featured guest is EMI MARIA, a female singer who made a striking debut at a young age in Japan and has continued to lead the J-R&B scene. EMI MARIA is a source of pride for Japan.
The collaboration between UNI-Q and EMI MARIA, "Do It Over," expresses the conflict of wanting to start over as a partner's heart gradually drifts away, preparing to embark on a new journey. Despite the desire to rectify the situation, it acknowledges one's faults, accepting the sadness and the heartache. The song beautifully marries EMI MARIA's glossy and emotional vocals with a seductive sound that rests on an Alternative R&B foundation while incorporating elements of electronic music and ambient, resulting in a strikingly harmonious piece.
