Every time the Tozai Line sways, a face appears in the window. Tired, but somehow not quite ready to give up.
"Today was okay, I guess" - that's what you tell yourself to get through the day. Then you push through the ticket gate and your feet start moving faster without thinking. It's not hunger driving you. It's your heart that's in a hurry. Well, honestly - it's both.
You want that tanmen. That bowl piled high with cabbage and bean sprouts, anchored by thick, unyielding noodles. On the way home from work, it's the only thing on your mind. The exhaustion from meetings, the deal that didn't go through - all of it drifts away, replaced by one pure, simple desire: I want to eat until I'm full. Anyone who's felt that knows exactly how much it saves you.
Through the rising steam, the mountain of cabbage and bean sprouts seems to beckon you in. Faced with that overwhelming portion, somehow everything that happened today stops mattering quite so much. The moment you pick up your chopsticks, something in your chest quietly comes undone. With every slurp of those thick noodles, the rich broth wraps around today's weight - not with words, but with warmth.
"Would you like ginger?"
Why does that single phrase hit so hard? It's not really a question about an order. It sounds more like: "Good to see you made it back." Ginger, double - that's the only way. Whatever doubts sank to the bottom of the bowl, drink them down to the last drop.
Fried chicken or gyoza - on a tired night, even a small choice like that feels impossible. But with every bite of that fried chicken, dreams that had curled up small begin to slowly unfurl. Chewing through a mountain of vegetables, you start to feel like you can still do this. Eating isn't just refueling. It's a quiet ritual of making peace with today.
Full - body and soul - you step outside, carrying the scent of ginger with you. The cold night air feels gentle. I can't go home having lost - just being able to think that is already a small kind of victory.
It never says "come back soon." But it always has that look on its face. Your secret ally on the nights you can't tell anyone. Even on the days you have nothing to be proud of, the walk home from that place - for some reason - feels like you're holding your head a little higher.
Things not going right is normal. Days that leave you empty are normal. And yet, rushing home toward that one bowl, you are one of the unnamed heroes of everyday life. Currently hiding quietly in a corner of Tokyo-s chaos- secretly creating mysterious music that no one asked for and no one could ever predict. In 2025- on an otherwise ordinary day- a long-dormant musical talent suddenly exploded. There were no signs. No warnings. The cause is unknown- and the artist himself is the most confused of all. The music born from this explosion is pop- yet philosophical and mystical. Spun directly from inspiration- each track gently embraces the listener-s heart and quietly guides them toward a vision of the future. It radiates a pure- translucent aqua-blue vibration - as if the universe and Earth were resonating together. Listeners find themselves journeying from the deep blue ocean to the edge of the cosmos in an instant. But there is also another troublesome side. Out of nowhere- he creates ridiculously absurd songs-with a straight face-that shatter society-s sense of normal. People who hear them first ask- What on earth am I listening to ? Then- Why didn-t anyone stop him ? And ultimately- for some reason- Why am I suddenly tearing up ? A strange emotional impact no one can quite explain. This bizarre ability remains unsolved. In fact- when he notices- the work is simply finished. His day job is that of a normal office worker (also known as a corporate drone). By day- he swims through vast seas of Excel- is tossed by the storm called customer complaints- and gets sucked into the space-time distortion known as meetings. But when night falls and he puts on his headphones- music pours out as if he-s directly connected to the infinite universe. This extreme contrast is the defining feature of AQUABLUE- and the most mischievous secret behind what makes the music so uniquely captivating.
