The end of days will find you here again

Trying to paint your feathers to look all more the same

You know I’m not like them, I could tell right from wrong

Stood up to self-deception to find where I belong

The moment you’ve been waiting all your life

Is barely enough to kill a few minutes of my time

You know I’m not like them, I could pass through the door

And chose to play along and pretend there’s something more

Sing to the end of days

You’ve got to turn him on

Ten steps away from heaven

Dance to the end of days

You’ve got to turn him on

Nine steps away from heaven

Pray to the end of days

You’ve got to turn him on

Eight steps away from heaven

Feast to the end of days

You’ve got to turn him on

Still falling out of heaven

Poor little sons of man

You’ve got to turn him on

Dragging you close to heaven

Don’t let him call your name

You’ve got to turn him on

For those who wait, it’s now the time to write our history

And you’ll be mine…

Find your way into me

Erase my thoughts and guide my hand through the lands and the trees

Dip your tongue in the lake, for I’ve got no answers

Let it sink deep inside, for I’ve stopped pretending

Don’t we die all the same?

No place to go

Sing to the end of days!

You’ve got to turn him on

Six steps away from heaven

Dance to the end of days!

You’ve got to turn him on

Five steps away from heaven

Pray to the end of days!

You’ve got to turn him on

Four steps away from heaven

Cheers to the end of days!

You’ve got to turn him on

Three steps away from heaven

Why don’t you let it go?

You’ve got to turn him on

Two steps away from heaven

Poor little sons of man

You’ve got to turn him on

One step away from heaven

Don’t let him call your name

You’ve got to turn him on

Pass through the gates of heaven

Daddy has come back home

You’ve got to turn him on

Deep down inside of heaven

He’s coming back for more

You’ve got to turn him on

"Vox Caprae, Acta Baphometi" is the debut album from Vox Caprae. An open-ended journey through the beautiful chaos of creativity, the album is a genre-defying collection that showcases the collective's refusal to be confined by expectations.

Behind the scenes, this work reflects a deeply collaborative process, with the involvement of talented collaborators of different tastes and backgrounds, adding richness to every track. The project's diverse background is expressed with three songs in three different languages: Italian, Japanese, and English. This multilingual approach adds a personal touch, showcasing the intersections of leader Frank O.'s experiences as an Italian living abroad while working on music that transcends borders.

At the heart of this collection of songs lies the title track - a sprawling 20-minute experimental suite that blends ritualistic rhythms with hypnotic textures. This piece unfolds like a sonic ceremony, weaving disparate influences into a mesmerizing, unpredictable journey. From there, the mood shifts dramatically with "Thirst," an electric pulse of restless, yet somehow detached, energy, capturing feverish obsession and the madness of unfulfilled desires. The album continues with "Estranei," a dreamlike ballad that drifts through surreal, melancholic soundscapes, whispering unspoken truths and reflecting on years of failure and hesitation.

The experience is further expanded with a fully rearranged version of "Thirst" and the Japanese version of "Estranei." The physical CD edition also includes instrumental versions for all songs, allowing the listeners to immerse themselves in the project's fluidity and grasp the details of the arrangement.

"Vox Caprae, Acta Baphometi" invites listeners to embrace the tension between illusion and reality, exploring themes of failure, delusion, nightmare, and self-reaffirmation through the lens of Vox Caprae's distinctive quirks and idiosyncratic charm. Ultimately, it stands as a reflection of Frank O.T. Reilly's passion, quirks, and human limits in Anno Domini 2024 - his fullest expression of what it means to make music without compromise.

Artist Profile

  • Vox Caprae

Vox Caprae is a free-form collective of artists and musicians based in Tokyo, Japan, directed and produced by Frank O.T. Reilly. Launched in 2024, the project emerged from Frank O.'s frustration and self-loathing after spending over a decade navigating Japan's underground music scene, where he often found himself disconnected and out of sync with everything surrounding him. Vox Caprae marks his first independent effort as the primary songwriter, a break from the constraints of genre and scene, offering a space where alcohol and creativity can flow unburdened by preconceptions. The name "Vox Caprae", loosely translated from Latin as "the voice of the goat", holds both personal and symbolic weight. Throughout Reilly's career, goats and sheep have been a strange yet persistent presence, almost following him without reason. More than once, others have jokingly compared his singing to the bleat of a goat, or a sheep, when they were feeling generous. Though sheep may seem cuter, Reilly feels a deeper kinship with the stubborn independence of a goat. As an Italian living in Japan for most of his adult life, he knows all too well the experience of never fully belonging to any particular flock, musically or otherwise. At its core, Vox Caprae is a project of continuous transformation. Every piece of music, every collaboration, and every moment within the collective evolves freely, defying conventional labels. In this fluid space, the only constant is the commitment to honesty in art, where every song is not just a composition, but an unfiltered expression of what lies beyond boundaries.
