Artist Yoshihiro Kanetake, who continues to depict daily doubts and conflicts from both introspective and resolute perspectives, has released his digital single "Togenoato" (Remains of a Thorn).
"Togenoato"-it's the evidence of life that remains after something has been removed.
Words swallowed up in the hustle and bustle of modern society, true feelings that couldn't be spoken. These don't disappear, but quietly remain within as "thorns."
This work focuses on the "thorns stuck in the throats" of modern people, shedding light not only on external attacks, but also on the "scars" left by the silence one has chosen to maintain.
The sound design layers time with the sounds of traditional Japanese instruments over a pulsating beat.
At the moment when modern language, archaic language, and festival chants intersect, the individual's inner world connects to the community's cycle (Bon Odori).
The pain doesn't disappear.
But even carrying those traces, it is possible to return to the circle of light.
"Togenoato" affirms that step.
