"Vermeer" is the debut song embodying Monett's Nu Classic philosophy.
Against a backdrop of transparency reminiscent of "Girl with a Pearl Earring,"
it weaves a story of the protagonist reflecting on time spent with a former lover, filled with regret.
What comes to mind is the lover's soft smile, the warmth of their sleeve, their innocent nature.
The beauty unnoticed at the time now appears luminous, only after parting.
Monett depicts this emotional fluctuation with pale-hued sounds and delicate lyrics.
The protagonist wishes "to see Vermeer again,"
yet understands they no longer have the right to stand beside them.
The pain of lost love, and the cruelty that its memory still quietly shines on.
Within the song, the light of memory flickers ambiguously and quietly, like an "earring."
