The buffer of the synthesizer system was developed to make a unique tune from this work. This system mainly consists of a computer, a USB device, a line selector, a buffer, a filter, and a mixer. A USB device connects with a computer via a USB interface and outputs pulse width modulation (PWM) and control signals. The developed buffer is connected to the output of a line selector. A line selector takes four PWM signals output from a USB device as inputs and outputs four PWM signals. The line selector's input and output connection method is changed using the USB device's control signal. PWM signals comprise a random signal, a modulation signal generated by a low-frequency oscillator, and a rhythm signal. The four PWM signals output from the line selector vary. Therefore, the line selector changes the type of the four PWM signals it outputs. The buffer receives the four PWM signals from a line selector and outputs twelve PWM signals. Each input signal produces three identical signals. The output signal of the buffer can be used as both an input signal and a control signal for a filter. PWM signals exhibit more intricate changes than the control signal output from a USB device, allowing the filter to generate a unique timbre. The development of the buffer has increased the complexity of the electrical network in this system. To facilitate future work, careful examination of the connections between the buffer, line selector, and filter is necessary.

Artist Profile

  • Dissecting Table

Ichiro Tsuji was born in 1966. He started working on noise/industrial music for his band named "Dissecting Table" in Tokyo in 1986. He returned to his hometown of Hiroshima in 1998, and has been pursuing musical activities ever since. His records and compact disks have been released under the independent label of the UPD organization, and under labels in Europe and the United States. In the first and middle stage of his career he controlled the synthesizer and sampler by the sequencer, but since 2012, the works have been produced by controlling PWM signals output from a USB device on a computer. Lately the work is being made by developing an original synthesizer system.
