Days that once felt fragmented slowly begin to connect when we meet someone who changes the way we see them.
The dreams we once had, and the dreams still waiting ahead, may all be leading to the same place.
Built around the word "Träumerei," this song by Losstime Life explores the connection between past and future, memory and encounter, and the way people gradually become part of one another's stories.
This track was created as part of a collaboration project between CASIO Waves Place and OpenTracks.
The entire instrumental was built exclusively from the sounds of three iconic CASIO vintage keyboards: the VL-1, SK-1, and MT-40.
Aside from the vocals, every sound heard in the track originates from these three instruments.
The compact electronic character of the VL-1, the distinctive sampled textures of the SK-1, and the rhythm and bass sounds of the MT-40 were reshaped through sampling, arrangement, effects processing, and mixing.
Rather than simply creating a song that "sounds like an old synthesizer," the starting point was a different question:
What kind of pop music could Losstime Life create in 2026 using only the sounds of vintage CASIO keyboards?
From there, "Träumerei" began to take shape.
The result is a song that feels nostalgic without looking only toward the past.
Simple, almost fragile electronic sounds are layered, transformed, and brought into contact with the human voice until they gradually form a single landscape.
That idea is reflected in the lyrics:
"Träumerei is the past."
And then,
"Träumerei is the future."
Sounds that were once played by someone decades ago can travel through time, reach another person, and become part of something entirely new.
Past sounds and future sounds.
Separated moments finding a point of connection.
And somewhere between them, the realization:
"You were here."
