『The Finest Satan』は、広辞苑第七版の〈辞書の旅〉において、
「この上ない」から「サタン」までの語釈を辿りながら、
そこから生まれた思索や感情を、ひとつの流れとしてまとめた楽曲だ。
言葉の定義や用例を重ねていく中で浮かび上がったのは、
善と悪、正義と裁き、その境界がいかに不安定であるかという感覚だった。
サタンは単なる悪の象徴ではなく、
「正しさ」が成立するために必要とされてきた
役割そのものとして立ち現れる。
誰かを救うために、誰かが切り捨てられること。
秩序の名の下で、静かに削られていく感情や呼吸。
その背後にある構造を、感情を排した視線で見つめ直す。
本作は、善悪のどちらにも与しない。
言葉の集積としての辞書を起点に、
人間が作り続けてきた価値判断の輪郭を、
静かに音として描き出す。
それが『The Finest Satan』である。
