• Kana AKARI

  Kana AKARI is a singer-songwriter based in Maebashi, Gunma, Japan. Drawing inspiration from 1990s Japanese pop and kayōkyoku, anime music, and V-rock, she creates songs built around vivid storytelling and nostalgic melodies. Her lyrics range from fictional, short-story-like narratives to songs reflecting on contemporary society and the world around her. She grew up studying piano, choral singing, and wind ensemble music, and began performing live in 2009. She released her first single, Mitsugetsukuu, in 2011, followed by her second single, Ito, in 2012. From 2011 to 2012, she also worked as a radio presenter for Kawasaki FM and FM Urayasu. In 2013, she put her music career on hold to attend university. While studying, she spent time in Vancouver, Canada, from 2015 to 2016, where she studied English. After nearly a decade away from music, she resumed her activities in 2023. She now performs primarily in and around her hometown of Maebashi. In January 2025, she released her third single, Restaurant Scapegoat, whose title track entered the iTunes Store Japan Kayōkyoku Top 100. In autumn 2026, AKARI launched a series of four consecutive digital singles, beginning with Gukohroku.
