This song carries the atmosphere of 1980s rock and pop.
It opens with a synth arpeggiator phrase reminiscent of those often heard in the music of The 1975, followed by spacious, room-sounding drums, bass, lively rhythm guitar, and the main guitar riff.
Although each guitar part initially sounds as if it is playing an entirely different rhythm, when combined they fit together like pieces of a puzzle, creating a cohesive and satisfying ensemble. We believe this unique balance of lightness and controlled disarray evokes images of summer, youth, and school life.
Among all the songs on our 3rd EP, released in July, this was the very first one to be written. Unlike kohamo's previous works, this track embraces a more restrained, band-oriented sound heavily influenced by Western rock music. It ultimately became the song that shaped the overall musical direction of the entire EP.
### Lyrics
The song follows a protagonist navigating youth while carrying various worries, conflicts, and uncertainties. It also strongly reflects Miura's personal perspective on what youth means.
While the lyrics may appear to center around youth and romance, at their core they explore something far more universal: taking time to remember what once mattered most, and learning to cherish the feelings and moments that exist right now.
The "school bag," which also serves as the song's title, symbolizes more than just an everyday item carried by students. It represents what we choose to carry with us through life.what we continue to hold onto from our past, and what we decide is worth keeping close as we move forward.
"Summer" in this song is not merely a season, but a metaphor for the moments when emotions and impulses reach their peak. The warmth and feelings that exist only in those fleeting moments need to be expressed while they still can. The emotions we carried and the choices we made at that time can never truly be recreated later. That message lies at the heart of the song, and perhaps explains why it carries such a strong sense of nostalgia.
Whether you're a teenager experiencing youth in the present, or someone looking back on those years, this song has the ability to awaken personal memories and emotions. It is a song with a wide emotional landscape.one in which everyone can find something that resonates with them.
Formed in 2024 in the Hokusetsu area of Osaka, they are a four-piece band active mainly in Osaka and Tokyo. In the spring of 2025, marking their second year of activity, they released their 2nd EP "Kirakira no Watashitachi." Three songs from the EP were selected for Spotifys official playlist "Kirakira Pop Japan," with the band also being featured on its top cover.
