Nine o'clock drifts in, and I walk to the café like a man returning
to a song he half-remembers.
Before the screen lights up, before the world makes its requests,
I order coffee- not the usual cappuccino,
but a flat white.
Hot. Creamy. Familiar.
Once, in Sydney, I knew this taste well-milk and espresso
folded like satin, warming the hands, slowing the breath.
Today, in Bangkok, the air is heavy with heat, but the rain has come,
and with it, a hush.
A single sip.
It slips down my throat-warmth, memory,
a soft landing in the chest.
I breathe in, long and steady, then gaze out the window.
The sky is pale with rain.
The city exhales.
Over my T-shirt, I pull on a thin hoodie-not for cold, but for comfort.
For rhythm.
Earbuds in.
I search for jazz, for fusion, for the melodies that know how to wait.
Now, the day begins.
Design revisions until noon- shaping lines,
chasing balance, letting the music hold me while the city moves outside, slow and blue, like brushed cymbals in a quiet room.
