The ultimate night drive soundtrack has arrived. Renowned producer Ryū, known for a prolific career spanning 12 original albums and projects like the virtual idol group "Lovely Melody," proudly presents Sweet Pop, the highly anticipated 13-track debut album from his ongoing City Pop project featuring the vocalist Chii.
Releasing on July 3rd, the album features a curated journey through the neon-lit night, including the well-received hit singles "Midnight Sweet Taxi," "Midnight Merry-Go-Round," "Plastic City," "Once More to That Summer," and "Stay Close." The voice behind these crystal-clear vocals, Chii, is actually a virtual AI vocalist brought to life by Ryū to explore new realms of musical expression.
Designed specifically as an album Ryū himself would want to listen to on a night drive, Sweet Pop offers a sophisticated and polished City Pop sound. The tracklist has been meticulously arranged to simulate the seamless, immersive experience of cruising down a nighttime highway. The relatable and emotional lyrics, written by Ryū, are filled with moments of melancholy, gentleness, and warmth. Composed with the assistance of Suno, the album provides a consistently smooth and nostalgic backdrop for Chii's emotive performance.
This project pushes the boundaries of modern music production by integrating human creativity with cutting-edge AI tools, utilizing Nano Banana Pro for the cover art and Midjourney and Kling to expand its stunning visual universe. On platforms like TikTok, the release is accompanied by evocative music videos featuring shifting highway nightscapes that perfectly capture the album's urban aesthetic. Start your engine, turn up the volume, and get lost in the beautiful world of Sweet Pop.
Ryu started DTM in university and has been creating mainly songs that he wants to listen to. Based on J-POP, his songs feature lyrical melodies and carefully written lyrics about joy and sadness, combined with the natural singing of Hatsune Miku in a sad but easy-to-hear way. The song Groove of Love from his 6th album was used as a commercial song for the Spoon app.
