A sentimental City Pop journey chasing the vivid, fleeting memories of a past summer through the midnight streets. Renowned producer Ryū, known for a prolific career spanning 11 Vocaloid albums and projects like the virtual idol group "Lovely Melody," presents the 4th single from his ongoing City Pop project featuring the fresh new vocalist, Chii.
Releasing on June 12th, "Once More to That Summer" blends a sophisticated modern sound with a deeply melancholic melody, making it the perfect companion for a late-night drive. The voice behind these crystal-clear vocals, Chii, is actually a virtual AI vocalist brought to life by Ryū to explore new realms of musical expression. The relatable and emotional lyrics were written by Ryū himself, weaving a heartfelt story of looking back at unsentimental memories, faded cassette tapes, and the bittersweet longing for a love left behind in the summer heat. Composed with the assistance of Suno, the track provides a smooth, polished backdrop that lets Chii's emotive performance truly shine.
This project pushes the boundaries of modern music production by integrating human creativity with cutting-edge AI tools, utilizing Nano Banana Pro for the cover art and Midjourney to expand its visual universe. On platforms like TikTok, the release is accompanied by a stunning music video featuring shifting nightscapes that perfectly capture the song's urban loneliness. Step into the passenger seat, look out at the receding city lights, and let this ultimate bittersweet anthem take you back in time.
Ryu started DTM in university and has been creating mainly songs that he wants to listen to. Based on J-POP, his songs feature lyrical melodies and carefully written lyrics about joy and sadness, combined with the natural singing of Hatsune Miku in a sad but easy-to-hear way. The song Groove of Love from his 6th album was used as a commercial song for the Spoon app.
