Over a long stretch of time, I chose many paths - and strayed from many more. Looking back, perhaps every one of them was a detour.
With each thing I gained, something else was lost. There were things I had treasured that I let go of by my own hand. Whether those choices were right, I still don't know. Even so, I never stopped walking.
Before I knew it, I was standing on the road home. A place that felt familiar, yet somehow a little different. What had stayed the same and what had changed, layered quietly together. Everything I lost. Everything I chose to leave behind. I carried all of it here.
The meaning of the detours was invisible while I was still walking them. But now it seems as though every one of them was leading to this place.
The years I spent searching for the right answer were not wasted. It's just that what truly mattered was never the rightness - it was having a place to come home to. This is not the sound of an ending. This is the sound of starting again.
A record of the road home, still somewhere in the middle of the journey.
