Kōya Ogata has announced the distribution of his EP "blank space -vol.2-", which follows his previous work.
Most recently, in January of last year, Kōya Ogata contributed a sound source to the Italian contemporary music label Blue Spiral Records. In July of the same year, they released their second cassette, and the song was selected for the Apple's official playlist "Sound Bath" lineup, and became the top album on the Apple Music- Instrumental Top Albums chart in 6 countries and Top 10 in 14 countries.
After her solo career, she has been working hard to create music with various approaches, including participating in BiSH's recordings and providing sound sources related to art/fashion, and has been steadily building her career at her own pace.
This time's music "blank space -vol.2-" is also an instrumental hip-hop work which sampled only the material of the sample sound source service "Splice Sounds" of the subscription type following the previous work.
The entire work is finished with a sense of tension, even though the music naturally blends into our daily lives.
If you like lo-fi hip-hop/chill-hop, which has become popular in recent years, or abstract/trip-hop, which boasts strong popularity, you should definitely give this a listen.
Kōya Ogata joined COMME des GARCONS as a fresh graduate and left after two years. Until 2014, he performed with THE CHERRY COKE$, appearing at music festivals across Japan including FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL and COUNTDOWN JAPAN. Since 2017, he has worked as a solo artist, creating ambient and soundscape works that explore the presence of sound and space. He has been responsible for soundscape design for shoe artist Noriyuki Misawa's solo exhibitions in New York, Paris, London, Singapore, Sapporo, and Tokyo Ginza. In 2025, he composed music for Misawa's exhibition film presented at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai. He has released SENSE1, SENSE2, and SENSE3, and his instrumental albums have reached No. 1 in 11 countries and the Top 10 in 29 countries on the iTunes / Apple Music instrumental album charts.
