SANJUSHI
Formed in Gunma, Japan by Kazuki Yoshizawa (Gt. & Vo.) and Keisuke Sakurai (Dr. & Cho.), the band solidified its current lineup in September 2020 with the addition of bassist Watanabe Kazutaka (Ba. & Cho.). After a four-year hiatus beginning in 2021, they re-emerged in November 2025, now actively performing in Tokyo and across the Kanto region. All music is composed by Yoshizawa, with lyrics penned by Sakurai. Grounded in the ethos of bringing color to the everyday, their sound is defined by razor-edged guitar work, a uniquely husky and tastefully distorted vocal delivery, and lyrics steeped in a lyrical, almost literary sensibility. Armed with explosive, high-voltage live performances, they carve out their own lane within the landscape of Japanese alternative rock.
