kiwa will release a new single / Matoigoi' on October 28.

kiwa developed some images after reading a tragic love poem written by film director Mai Ando and composed this song in three days. She altered Mai's poem into her lyrics and sang the song herself. Recording studio sloppy doggy did the vocal recording, mixing and mastering, and designer Pon designed this jacket.

This song is mainly composed of loops of each instrumental performance, but it wears a gentle and nostalgic mood throughout the song without feeling monotonous. Despite the lilting melody that sounds as if it is skipping, the lyrics start with a restrained emotion towards this love. The strong emotions become open in the chorus, and in no time at all, the song ends and we are left behind. It is as fantastic as smoke.

An image video of the song can be seen on the kiwa Official YouTube Channel.

  • kiwa

kiwa was born in Ishikawa, an old town in Japan. As a child, she played in nature and loved Japanese poetry and old songs, sometimes crying alone at a touching song. She listened to Western music, which her mother preferred. She spent only one year of her six-year-old life in Pittsburgh, United States of America. She became a singer-songwriter while still at university, writing songs such as 'Fall Sky', which she was invited to perform at local events. She moved to Tokyo after graduation and worked at a hospital as a psychiatrist. She then resumed music production at home from the end of 2021. She specialises in a style where she puts melodies and lyrics on tracks from various friends she has connected with online. She co-released 'lovers fall', 'X-laser' and 'Paradox' in 2022 under the artist name 'kyy'. She changed her name to 'kiwa' in 2023, producing tracks and providing lyrics for other artists. She uses literary expressions, but also lyrics about real thoughts and feelings that people are usually hesitant to mention. Her productions are based on J-Pop, but also cover a variety of genres such as Rock, Hiphop, Electro and Acoustic. Artists she admires include amazarashi, King Gnu, James Blunt, Sam Smith, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and EMINEM.
