We often go through life believing that having our family and the people we love by our side is something that will always be there.
But for everyone, a day eventually comes when that is no longer true.
Only then do we find ourselves wishing we had been kinder, talked more, and treasured those moments while we still had them.
Sometimes, the closer someone is to us, the easier it is to forget just how precious they are.
This song was written from my own personal experience.
River Gypsy is the music project of Yohei Sugawara, a riverboard guide whose life has been shaped by rivers, travel, and personal challenge. Based in Mitake, Okutama, Tokyo, Yohei works as a professional riverboarding and hydrospeed guide while writing songs inspired by life on the river, the feeling of moving forward by his own will, and the long detours that shape a life. His music is not created as a message for someone else, but as an expression of following his own heart and passion, born from the days he has kept moving forward while feeling lost, holding on to this way of life as if he could not let it go. Through a simple voice and guitar, River Gypsy expresses the detours of life, the uncertainty of moving forward, and the act of challenging himself while still carrying weakness.
