Robert Alexander Anderson, an American composer, was born and lived most of his life in Hawaii and wrote many popular Hawaiian songs in the Hapa Haole (Hawaiian songs sung in English) genre. He also wrote famous Hawaiian Christmas songs such as "Mele Kalikimaka" and "Santa's Hula".
Sandii lived in Hawaii during her late teens and most of her 20s. In that period, she sang in clubs and studied hula with Aunty Bella Richards of Kailua. She also met and bonded with Pattye Kealohalani Wright, who later became a Kumu Hula through Aunty Lani Kalama (1990). Sandii has the various, many different musical phases of her recording career. She has recorded as Sandi Ai, Sandy Hohn, Sandii & the Sunsetz, and now as Sandii. Since 1996, her albums have been Hawaiian or Polynesian-theme.
