Chiba morning…
One leaf, then a hundred, now a thousand
And I’m still walkin’
Steppin’ out in a secondhand suit
Sky so clear, and the crowd feels cute
Easter bells in the distance ring
Kids run past with a plastic wing
Cherry leaves like notes in the breeze
Floatin’ down slow like forgotten dreams
City breathes in a holy hush
Old folks smile as the buses rush
A thousand leaves in the sky
One for each time we said goodbye
But I’m still here, still beneath
The quiet rain of every leaf
Shoppin’ bags swing, I’m light on my feet
Mom’s old words in my backseat
Told me, “Son, don’t chase the gold,”
“Find your faith where the bread gets cold.”
So I wander through the neon sigh
Half awake under pastel sky
Crossroads hum with the sound of youth
And Easter speaks in a hidden truth
A thousand leaves in the sky
One for each time we said goodbye
But I’m still here, still beneath
The quiet rain of every leaf
Paper wings and whispered names
Folded notes and picture frames
What we’ve lost, what stays the same —
All of it lives in this spring flame
A thousand leaves in the sky
Stories drifting as time goes by
Still I walk, still I breathe
Underneath these thousand leaves

Artist Profile
starclime
There are still landscapes in music that we have yet to see. starclime is a fourteen-member music project. Taking City Pop as one of its starting points, starclime moves freely through rock, jazz, soul, R&B,EDM, classical music, ambient, experimental music, hip-hop, and musical traditions from around the world. Rather than remaining within a single genre, the project absorbs the colour, rhythm, culture and atmosphere of different forms of music, reshaping them into something new. The changing seasons. Journeys towards unfamiliar places. Memories of somewhere to return to. The distance between people. Feelings that lie beyond words. These landscapes and emotions flow throughout the music of starclime. Some things can only be expressed through song. Others only begin to reveal themselves when words disappear. For starclime, vocal works and instrumentals therefore belong equally to the same musical world. Each member brings a different musical background and a different perspective to every work, while some continue to discover and develop their own musical identity. Rather than preserving a single finished form, starclime allows the music itself to grow through change. starclime does not seek simply to add more genres. Its aim is to renew the way music itself can be perceived through the meeting of different musical worlds. Towards music that has yet to be named. Towards landscapes we have yet to discover. starclime will continue to present new ways of seeing and hearing music.
