LAMP EYE is a legendary hip-hop duo consisting of RINO LATINA and DJ YAS. RINO set the standard by spitting "Verse 1" (Shogen 1) on the undisputed Japanese hip-hop classic "Shogen" , a monumental track produced by DJ YAS. Formed in the early 1990s as a trio featuring RINO, DJ YAS, and GAMA, LAMP EYE laid the groundwork for the dawn of the Japanese hip-hop scene. They served as organizers and headliners for various legendary underground events, such as BLACK MONDAY, Anettai Urin , Onidamari , and Kaminari Okoshi. In 1996, they performed at "Thumpin' CAMP" at the Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall, which was Japan's very first hip-hop festival. RINO and DJ YAS also played core roles in KAMINARI-KAZOKU, a supergroup formed alongside iconic figures like YOU THE ROCK and TWIGY, releasing the album 330 More Answer No Question in 2004. Both artists have also pursued highly active solo careers: RINO has dropped two solo albums (Carnival of Rino and II) under the moniker RINO LATINA II. Meanwhile, DJ YAS has produced for a wide array of artists, releasing two solo albums (Light and Smoking Gun), as well as putting out music as a member of the elite producer collective, KEMURI PRODUCTIONS.
