The two-song single "Cheek Time Won't Dance" is the first soundtrack of 2022 for the rock band "Daiseido," which creates good music that is both nostalgic and new.
The A-side, "Never dance while cheek time," is a song that chews on the romantic, slow, and mellow image of "cheek time" (the time when men and women do cheek dancing at discos and dance parties when slow-tempo music is played) with Cathedral's own musical style. The song has a long bass solo and guitar solo, and the music continues in a leisurely and unobtrusive manner, but it is one that embodies the concept of the lyrics, "A man who can't dance has been hanging around on the floor for a long time.
The song "(I need) Nothing but LP" is one that echoes with a light guitar rock sound. The song is a song that is not so much about "Daiseido" as it is about the loud musicality of the band.
"Daiseido" is a five-piece alternative rock band consisting of Yasuhiro Yamamoto (Vo./Gt.), Yuki Ohana (Key.), Kei Naruse (Ba.), Hiroki Machino (Gt.), and Kazune Nakanishi (Dr.). They are characterized by a musicality that evokes various roots and essences regardless of time period or country, and continue to create good music that is "nostalgic and new at the same time" on a daily basis. They formed in 2018 and started their activities based in Tokyo. Since then, they have energetically released albums and EPs, and in March 2023, they released their latest EP "Daihenshin". After the release of this work, popular singer-songwriter Vaundy posted the song on SNS, attracting the attention of many music listeners. After that, the band's Vo. Yamamoto provided the theme song "Beam" for Sumire Miyaji(Hinatazaka 46)'s personal PV "Sumi Legend, a beautiful girl super idol," which became a topic of conversation.
