Edo Reggae

"Edo Reggae" is an imaginary music project born from a simple question: What if reggae had existed in Edo-period Japan?

Inspired by tea houses, bathhouses, pilgrimages to Ise, festivals, the Ooku, and everyday life in old Edo, this album blends reggae, dub, chillout, dancehall, and J-Pop influences into a unique musical experience. Created by OOPARTS TRAX, a label dedicated to uncovering musical artifacts that should never have existed, "Edo Reggae" presents a world unlike any other.

A quiet afternoon, the excitement of a festival night, a moment spent gazing at the moon, a love letter written in the dark. Through 18 tracks, this concept album captures the lives, seasons, and passing moments of Edo through the sound of reggae.
