Artist Profile

  • Yu Ishigaki

A female singer from Ishigaki Island, Okinawa. After moving to Tokyo from Ishigaki Island, she formed the childhood friend female unit "Yanawaraba." She made her debut in 2003 with the song "Aoi Takara." Her album Utaugusui, which includes the songs "Haikei Marumaru-san" and "Ichigo Ichie" that were featured as theme songs for dramas, ranked high on the charts and created a buzz. In November 2020, she disbanded "Yanawaraba" after their final live performance at the Tokyo International Forum. After that, she started her solo career in earnest, and in 2022, her first solo song "Hana Hira" was chosen as the commercial song for the refreshing beverage CHOYA Natsu Ume. In 2023, she held her first solo one-man live concert at a hall. In January 2024, her song "Ashita" was selected as the tie-up song for Meiji Meibalance MICHITAS, and many of her previously released songs were featured in TV commercials and TV program insert songs, bringing her music to a wide audience. Her unique and irreplaceable voice, which resonates with listeners' hearts without being swayed by the times, naturally brings tears to people's eyes.
