I am someone who carries deep-seated feelings of inferiority. I wanted to be someone else-not myself. The popular kids. Their clothes, the way they talked, the way they lived. I tried to mimic all of it. Even when I liked something, I pretended not to if they disliked it. Even if I didn't care, I longed for expensive clothes that were far out of my reach-just because they wore them. This song is, in a way, my confession. The more I tried to become like them, the more hollow I felt inside. No-rather than becoming like them, I realized I was becoming something else entirely. Something that could never fit their mold, no matter how much I forced it. I had few people around me I could call friends. And even fewer reasons to believe someone might like me. Eventually, I came to a realization: I didn't need to become someone else. What I truly wanted... was to be a delicate rose that draws bees with sweet fragrance- to show myself proudly to the world and be loved. But I wasn't a rose. All I could do was imitate its red hue. Flutter oversized petals, emit a grotesque sound, and release a stench that attracts only flies. A Rafflesia, hiding in a damp, sunless forest, waiting-hoping-that someone, someday, might find me. That's the kind of self I faced while writing Rafflesia Dance. Now, with this song, I'm here to kill the old me. That's all.
A J-Pop duo, bound by music across the globe redraw is a duo formed by two people on opposite sides of the globe, connected through music. Producer dro and vocalist Rui make up this duo, sharing emotion across physical distance and time-zones - a new form of global music project that's drawing attention. They met via social media (X) in February 2024, and despite being in different countries, speaking different languages, and living in different environments, they became deeply connected through the one thing they shared: music. dro produces tracks in a university dorm in the U.S., while Rui records vocals in a small closet in Japan. The sound born from such a distant production environment symbolizes exactly the "sound of a generation transcending distance." Every track is produced at home using DTM. This is not mere home-recording - it represents the free creative spirit of the digital-native generation. Over a 13-hour time difference, they share ideas on Discord, arrange, refine, and polish their work. This remote-production structure is the very philosophy of redraw - valuing emotional connection over physical constraints. Their musical quality is also one of their greatest strengths. Mixing engineers such as Wave Yoo (IU, BLACKPINK Jennie), Ariel Chobaz (Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj), and Adachi Yoshinori (Mrs. GREEN APPLE) have participated. Furthermore, mastering was done by Idania Valencia (Charli XCX 'brat' / Grammy winner) and Chris Gehringer (Dua Lipa, Lady Gaga). They have achieved world-class sound quality rarely seen in the indie scene. Without relying on outside management, they handle production, A&R, networking - everything themselves. They have an autonomous system and unfold their creativity strategically, which is another key feature. redraw's music is not simply "songs." The works are narrative projects based on novels and essays written by dro himself, and each track carries its own theme and message. Their series project "Midnight Therapy" links 7-8 songs into a single story. Music, visuals, and narrative are organically connected - this structure underscores redraw not as an "artist," but as a "team that creates stories." In July 2024 they released their debut single "Mint for Two". It charted in the iTunes J-POP charts in multiple countries, leaving a vivid impression. Since then, within about a year, they have released eight singles - each depicting a different worldview while maintaining a consistent aesthetic and high level of completion. In the latter half of 2025 they plan to step beyond online activity to roll out studio live footage and real-life performance content. While rooted in the uniqueness built as a remote band, they aim to embody "our generation's J-POP" on real stages. redraw believes in the power of music connected not by distance or time-zones, but by emotion and story. In an era where music transcends borders and languages, they stand at the center, continuing to sketch a new form of J-POP. " A global duo sharing emotion beyond space. " That is redraw. And the new musical map that we keep drawing. Members of redraw: Rui & dro
