Mizuki Noa
On March 11, 2011, the Great East Japan Earthquake caused devastating damage across the Tohoku region.
Noa Mizuki, who is from Fukushima, stood on the coast of Soma City in Fukushima - a place where everything had been washed away by the tsunami - and composed this song.
Many people lost their homes and stood at the edge of despair.
While deeply feeling the pain and suffering of the people around her, she believed that history would not end here.
She felt strongly that people would one day rise again from this devastation, rebuild their town, and begin life anew.
After completing the song, she performed it many times in the disaster-affected areas.
She continues to sing it as a song of encouragement for people living in places that have been reduced to rubble - not only by the earthquake, but also by various natural disasters and conflicts around the world.
With that hope in her heart, she decided to write a song that looks toward the future.
