Takumi Hayashi's latest single, 5:02AM (2026 Version) is a re-recorded and reimagined version of a song originally written in 2022.
Blending lo-fi textures with soft acoustic instrumentation, the track captures the stillness before the first train, the hazy glow of sunrise, and the quiet sense of solitude and relief found in the early hours of the city.
Influenced by world music, ambient, and indie folk, the arrangement drifts gently between night and morning with a floating, dreamlike atmosphere.
Rather than recreating the original, the song quietly reinterprets it through the perspective of 2026.
Artist Profile
Hayashi takumi
A multi-artist and singer-songwriter from Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan. Influenced by ethnic music and jazz, his music is characterized by a boundless and highly original style. In addition to performing all instruments and vocals, he is also involved in the creative direction of his artwork and music videos, pursuing a free artistic approach that transcends genres and conventional forms of expression. In February 2022, he released the EP Yaei. The same year, he received the Special Award at the ESP School Guitar Vocal Contest and was selected as a finalist in the Vocalist Contest. In March 2023, he released the full-length album IN BLOOM. After organizing and performing at self-produced shows in Shinjuku, Shibuya, and Yokohama, he embarked on a cross-country tour across the United States in October. In 2025, he released three consecutive singles over three months. In June, he held a five-city tour titled Le Lien, and in August he performed live in the UK, continuing to expand his activities both in Japan and internationally.
