• Shinya Ando

  Shinya Ando (santoor player) Santoor player. From Japan. He started his musician career as guitarist when he was 16 years old. Through his musican activity, one day he met Indian classical music and was fascinated by the beauty and santoor sound, in 2004 started learning it. At first he learned basic santoor playing way from one of Japanese deciple of Pt.Shiv Kumar Sharma and acquired the style of Pt.Shiv Kumar Sharma. Then to pursue Indian classical music more deeply he learned from Pt.Shubhendra Rao in India. After that he takes vocal style to his santoor playing by learning the Patiala garana of Indian classical Kayal vocal, and plays his instrument as like singing. He creates his original santoor style and there are both emotionality and innersilence in his music In 2009 has started his santoor performance on the stage. Then he has had many performances in Japan. In 2015 has started his performance in India. In 2016 Europe tour great successful. In 2017 had performance on opening act of Pt.Shubhendra Rao Japan concert. Had seminar class of Indian classical music at IAMAS (Institute of Advanced Media Arts and Sciences). In 2018 & 2019 had performance on opening act of world Bansuri maestro Rakesh Chaurasia Japan tour. His music is touching our heart deeply also has deep silence, colourful sound expression, like river.
