Artist Profile

  • Rio Hosokawa

Rio Hosokawa is a Japanese singer-songwriter from Innoshima, Onomichi City, Hiroshima, Japan. She graduated from ESP Music School. At the age of 20, she traveled to New York to study singing and performed live while immersing herself in the city music scene. After returning to Japan, she appeared on the TBS music program Sing! Sing! Sing! in 2014. Encouraged by advice from music producer Akimitsu Honma, who served as a judge on the show, she began her career as a singer-songwriter and later appeared in the program second season. She also appeared on Nippon TV singing competition Kashou-Ou (Singing King). In 2015, she released her debut single astra, followed by her first full-length album Nostalgic in 2016. She has performed at various live events, including a music event on the outdoor stage of Tokyo International Forum hosted by Heineken, as well as performances at venues such as Yoyogi National Gymnasium No.2. In February 2019, her fourth single Crossover was featured on the radio program Scramble Rock City, hosted by music producer Kenta Matsukuma, and was added to the program playlist. Her fifth single Haru tte Kawaii surpassed 350,000 plays on TikTok. Her single Tokyo Gyoza-Rou, released on February 25, 2026, was selected for the Spotify playlist Top Picks: Country & Folk (TPA x TuneCore). Her artistic concept is simple: to keep sharing the belief that the world is beautiful.
