Ross Moody will release their first new single since restarting, titled "Losing Myself" on Wednesday, February 11.

In their previous EP, Ross Moody drew attention with Kobamuta's vocal expression that went beyond the boundaries of rap, along with a new style that boldly incorporated live instrumentation. Following the departure of a member, this new release marks their return to the original sibling-unit formation and becomes their first new work in nearly two years.

"Setsunaiya -Losing Myself-" was co-written by Kobamuta and Keita Kobayashi, with lyrics penned by Kobamuta. As with their past work, the recording took place in Kobamuta's bedroom, which they use as a workspace, while mixing and mastering were handled by Keita Kobayashi. Building on the instrument-driven style showcased in the previous EP, the track pursues greater simplicity, bringing to life a warm, down-to-earth world that feels distinctly true to the Ross Moody brothers. Kobamuta's vocals, freely moving between singing and rapping, demonstrate a clear sense of growth.

Regarding the lyrics, Kobamuta commented:

"In the first verse, I tried to narrate the excitement of the beginning of a romance. The second verse is about maintaining the relationship while overcoming various hardships. It's like the image of doing your best to keep a love going, even when it's not so simple."

The artwork, created using screenshots, was also designed by the two members of Ross Moody themselves.

Artist Profile

  • Ross Moody

A sibling band consisting of singer Kobamuta and track maker Keita Kobayashi. They released their debut album What Murdered Me in 2019, followed by the mixtape Without Schools: The Mixtape in 2020 and the album A Farewell to Nostalgia in 2022. Their work gained attention for Kobamuta's distinctive vocals and poetic, playful rap style, combined with Keita Kobayashi's experimental production built on intricate sampling and collage techniques. In 2023, the project expanded its lineup and released the EP Love Spread, marking a shift toward a more musical sound centered on vocals and live instrumentation. After subsequent lineup changes, the band has continued to develop a unique sonic identity shaped by the brothers' shared sensibility - crafting intimate, warm tracks paired with engaging vocals.
