With laughter, tears, and love, and courage, it's like a romantic comedy movie, a musical story born!
KAWASE Kohske, a Japanese composer who has been developing activities across music and art, has been mainly producing works for dance performances. This work "ROMANTIC MAN GOING TO THE FRONT: The Essentials of Music for Performance 2007-2020" is KAWASE's music saga, which lasted about 13 years from 2007 to early 2020.
What impression do you think of when you hear "music for performance?" "It's enough to enjoy it at the performance, and it does not need to listen to it again." Many people may feel that way. Or there isn't even an impression of the music.
KAWASE expresses that composition for dance is "like a battle with moving things and visible things." In order not to be overwhelmed by the passionate emotion of the dancers on the stage and blur the impression, each sound is refined, and at the same time, various styles of music: POPS, ROCK, ELECTRONIC, JAZZ, HEAVY METAL, CLASSIC, CONTEMPORARY, EXPERIMENTAL, and AMBIENT are integrated and designed with a time axis. Then, the audience is naturally invited to the imaginary story in his sound world. Sometimes the music, which is also finished by making full use of his voices and vocals, is humorous and charming, but without losing seriousness and sincerity, while listening for some reason, important thoughts come to your heart. Regardless of generation, gender, age, nationality, it is a treasure box of music that makes you sip, tear, and tears. That is why "his music like a romantic comedy" and some call him a ROMANTICMAN. Yes, there are all the important things in life here.
This work may be said to be "the beginning of the end" for KAWASE as a composer. When you finished listening to this 40-piece, 2-hour, and 42-minute album, you should be able to feel the prayer-like feelings contained in the title "GOING TO THE FRONT." What kind of scenery spreads in your mind then? Please share your impressions.
