"Doll" depicts a heartbreaking and fragile relationship where one only feels loved in the exact moments they are receiving it. Originally featured on Ryu's 9th album Sweet & Thirsty as a highly acclaimed Vocaloid (Hatsune Miku) track, the song has evolved to new heights and will be released on February 20th as "Doll ('26ver) feat. NAMI".
The standout feature of this new release is the introduction of the virtual AI vocalist, NAMI. Ryu, who wrote and composed the track, skillfully integrated AI vocal editing into his original composition, allowing the song's underlying sorrow and lyrical melody to resonate even more directly with the listener. The unique texture of the AI vocals-distinctly different from the original Vocaloid version-combined with a brand-new arrangement, elevates the track's quality to a whole new level.
Sonically, the track hooks listeners instantly with an addictive intro that seamlessly blends elements of techno-pop, funk, and house. Its straightforward lyrics and catchy melody have proven incredibly compatible with social media, achieving the remarkable feat of recording Ryu's highest-ever first-day play count on TikTok.
Furthermore, the jacket artwork features Moka Komorebi, a model who has served as the visual muse for several of Ryu's albums. Her presence beautifully translates the song's melancholic and aesthetic worldview into a visual format. "Doll ('26ver)" is a gem of a pop tune that is sure to leave a lasting impression on your heart.
Ryu started DTM in university and has been creating mainly songs that he wants to listen to. Based on J-POP, his songs feature lyrical melodies and carefully written lyrics about joy and sadness, combined with the natural singing of Hatsune Miku in a sad but easy-to-hear way. The song Groove of Love from his 6th album was used as a commercial song for the Spoon app.
