I Want to Walk

"Life is troublesome and beautiful."
Capturing the contradictions of daily life through poetry and sound, the band Chillrenika, formed by lyricist/composer pleasehitme and vocalist Chika, known for her overwhelming expressive power, has released their first mini-album, "The Name of the Flower is the Past."
The album contains four tracks, including "I Want to Go Home" and "Co-Creation of Life," both of which were featured as insert songs in the 7th Newcomer Performance by the theater troupe Parade.
The first track, "I Want to Go Home," is an homage to school food punishment, a major influence for both pleasehitme and keyboardist yuji. It vividly reflects the underlying theme of the band: "the pain felt in everyday life." The lyrics are written based on Chika's emotions, and the line, "I, who can live alone, am someone who can blame no one but myself," mirrors what pleasehitme had felt toward Chika.
The second track, "Don't Let Nostalgia Kill You," is a rock number celebrating those who live carrying both the beauty and the pain of the past. The song is marked by yuji's repeating piano phrases and sora's swirling basslines. Its straightforward lyrics and Chika's powerful vocals make for a striking impression.
The third track, "Co-Creation of Life," is a moody piece themed around the idea that "to live together is to create together." Beginning with the line, "Maybe it's okay to just end it," the song delicately portrays emotions swaying between "Everything feels too troublesome" and "But I have no choice but to live," through Chika's nuanced vocal performance.
The fourth track, "I Want to Walk," was written by pleasehitme after the passing of their mother. Imagining the simple act of walking and talking together, the lyrics weave feelings of loss and the desire for dialogue. The structure-starting with just guitar and vocals, then expanding into a full band sound-expresses both the release of emotion and the quiet beauty of everyday life.
