This album is an ambitious work by Akihiro Nishiguchi, who is at the forefront of the Japanese jazz scene, challenging new expressions. The new band organized for this work is a drumless trio. He plays the soprano saxophone throughout, accompanied by talented musicians David Bryant (p) and Takumi Awaya (b). The creative power of the three people spins a unique ensemble. You can fully enjoy the crisp sound of the soprano sax as it runs through the spacious space.
Encountered big band jazz at the prestigious Konan Junior High School and High School, which has produced many first-class jazz musicians, and started playing the tenor saxophone. In 2003, he received a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music, where he studied under Joe Lovano and George Gazone. As a member of the student-selected Berklee Concert Jazz Orchestra, he travels all over the United States, appearing on radio stations and jazz festivals. After graduating in 2006, he moved to New York. In addition to his own band, he joins groups of various genres to hone his skills. After moving to Japan in 2010, he released his debut album "Tre agrable" and in 2013 "PINGO". In 2017, he performed at the Detroit Jazz Festival with his own sax trio. In 2020, the new leader band "FOTOS" was released, and in 2023 "Something in Red" was released from <Days of Delight>.
