Currently, the rap artist Whaleo holds a very unique position compared to other rappers. He is active primarily through BLCAKBOX in Wakayama, but when he is active in Korea, he operates through the label GPS. Thanks to this distinctive dual base, he is creating an original sound that blends the musical influences of both regions while striving to maintain his identity in both the Japanese and Korean hip-hop scenes. This song, "Journeyman," serves as a single to experiment with this concept, featuring witty lyrics crafted from his experiences moving between Japan and Korea and a flow influenced by Atlanta, USA, solidifying Whaleo's unique style. Additionally, the collaboration with all-around producer @lionmelo37, who has worked with many famous rappers like MIKADO, JAKEN, Chao Chao, 7, and Young Zetton, along with hip-hop producer @gps.leansmoke, known for working with popular Korean rappers such as HOMIES, SINCE, CHANGMO, and SUPERBEE, has resulted in a loop filled with East Asian elements and addictive drum patterns, enhancing the song's overall quality and raising expectations for his upcoming debut EP in Japan, set to be released later this year.
