Tokyo, Roppongi.
In the corner of this city where people from all over the world come and go, the yellow "M" sign glows without fail, night after night.

This song is a record of one evening - a gift to everyone who works and lives in the city.

As dusk sinks between the gaps of the buildings, a man who has just finished his sales calls is pulled into the Roppongi McDonald's. His fingertips, worn from handing out business cards all day, are still trembling faintly. Whether the meetings went well or badly - tonight, it doesn't matter. He just wants to throw his bag on the floor and stay a little while in this place where no one knows his name.

We who live in the modern world are constantly asked to prove who we are. A company name embossed on a business card. A job title. A track record. An SNS profile, follower counts, the number of likes. A soul exhausted from endlessly proving its own identity wanders, and finds itself here. In the Roppongi McDonald's.

The murmur of foreign voices. Someone's uninhibited laughter. A tide of suits coming and going. No one pays attention to anyone else. That anonymity is tonight's salvation. The warmth of french fries quietly forgives the weight of the day. Drinking down a lukewarm coffee, the continuation of tomorrow somehow comes into view. Carrying yesterday's mistakes, he closes his eyes in a hard plastic chair. He breathes, beside a stranger. That's enough. That's all it takes to feel like he can start over tomorrow.

The sound fuses J-pop and urban blues into a funk-soul hybrid. The warm resonance of a Rhodes piano and the melancholic lick of a blues electric guitar wrap around the night air of Roppongi. A tight live drum groove and a deep, rubbery bassline pulse like the heartbeat of the city, while an emotional vocal speaks directly to a tired soul. The chorus hook - "drawn in by the yellow M" - repeats until it is etched into the listener's body, impossible to forget.

In the Bridge, the sound is stripped to its minimum: piano and voice alone. "Open 24 hours. Nothing special." And yet - "the Roppongi twilight looked unbearably beautiful tonight, so I wanted to stay just a little longer." The words confess an attachment to this place that cannot be reasoned away.

The final whisper: "Thank you, Roppongi. Thank you, McDonald's."

This is a song of gratitude. Not toward a luxury hotel or a fine dining restaurant, but toward an ordinary fast food chain found anywhere in the world - an awkward, sincere, and deeply felt thank you. The song quietly affirms the small dignity of a person who carries the loneliness of city life as it is, and still turns toward tomorrow.

There are moments when a place that is "nothing special" becomes someone's most special place. If the next time you see that yellow M sign, you feel something just a little different - that's enough.

Artist Profile

  • AQUA BLUE

Lyricist- composer- and music producer. Also handles vocals- graphic design- accounting- HR- and marketing- all single-handedly- of course. Currently hiding quietly in a corner of Tokyo-s chaos- secretly creating mysterious music that no one asked for and no one could ever predict. In 2025- on an otherwise ordinary day- a long-dormant musical talent suddenly exploded. There were no signs. No warnings. The cause is unknown- and the artist himself is the most confused of all. The music born from this explosion is pop- yet philosophical and mystical. Spun directly from inspiration- each track gently embraces the listener-s heart and quietly guides them toward a vision of the future. It radiates a pure- translucent aqua-blue vibration - as if the universe and Earth were resonating together. Listeners find themselves journeying from the deep blue ocean to the edge of the cosmos in an instant. But there is also another troublesome side. Out of nowhere- he creates ridiculously absurd songs-with a straight face-that shatter society-s sense of normal. People who hear them first ask- What on earth am I listening to ? Then- Why didn-t anyone stop him ? And ultimately- for some reason- Why am I suddenly tearing up ? A strange emotional impact no one can quite explain. This bizarre ability remains unsolved. Amazingly- the music doesn-t come from theory or knowledge. It is built solely on infinite inspiration (also known as escapism) and soulful intuition. Which means there-s no reproducibility-and not even the creator knows what will come next. There is another inexplicable trait: When inspiration descends- the song is finished at terrifying speed. By the time the cup noodles are ready- the entire track-from intro to outro-is already playing in his head. By the time his coffee cools- the DAW programming is done. By the time his boss finishes talking in a meeting- No. He absolutely does not produce music during meetings. Absolutely not. The secret of this abnormal speed is unknown. In fact- when he notices- the work is simply finished. His day job is that of a normal office worker (also known as a corporate drone). By day- he swims through vast seas of Excel- is tossed by the storm called customer complaints- and gets sucked into the space-time distortion known as meetings. But when night falls and he puts on his headphones- music pours out as if he-s directly connected to the infinite universe. This extreme contrast is the defining feature of AQUABLUE- and the most mischievous secret behind what makes the music so uniquely captivating. So-close your Excel files (after saving properly- of course) and dive once more into the far reaches of the cosmos tonight.
